I often compare skin to a plant.  A beautiful plant, if placed in an environment that is too harsh, starved of nutrients, and dehydrated, because it did not receive enough water, will wither and die, just as our skin does.  However, when the plant is moved to a location that is more protected, watered and fertilized, dead and dying stems, leaves and flowers exfoliated, the plant, just like our skin, will utilize its energy for new growth.
